Smart Paste for Google Chat ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension designed to make it easier to share large amounts of text in Google Chat.

The Extension detects when a user pastes a large amount of text into Google Chat and provides functionality to convert that content into a file attachment instead of placing a large block of text directly into a chat message.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension processes information and how user privacy is protected.

2. Information We Process

The Extension processes only the information necessary to provide its core functionality.

2.1 Pasted Text

When a user pastes text into Google Chat, the Extension may temporarily process the pasted text within the user's browser in order to:

• Detect the amount of pasted text.
• Determine whether the pasted content exceeds the user's configured threshold.
• Prepare the content as a file.
• Support the process of attaching the generated file to Google Chat.

The pasted text is processed locally within the user's browser.

The Extension does not send pasted text to servers operated or controlled by the developer.

The developer does not maintain a copy of the user's pasted text on a developer-controlled server.

2.2 Extension Settings

The Extension allows users to configure a paste threshold that determines when pasted content should be treated as large text.

This setting is stored using Chrome's Storage API so that the user's preference can persist between browser sessions and, where supported by Chrome, across signed-in Chrome devices.

The stored setting is used only to provide the Extension's functionality.

3. How We Use Information

Information processed by the Extension is used solely to provide its core functionality.

The Extension uses information to:

1. Detect large pasted content in Google Chat.
2. Apply the user's configured paste threshold.
3. Convert eligible pasted text into a file.
4. Support the file attachment workflow in Google Chat.
5. Remember the user's extension preferences.

The Extension does not use user information for advertising, behavioral profiling, credit evaluation, or unrelated purposes.

4. Data Collection

The Extension does not operate a developer-controlled backend server for collecting or storing users' pasted content.

The developer does not intentionally collect or maintain:

• Email addresses
• Passwords
• Authentication credentials
• Payment information
• Precise location information
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers
• User profiles
• Analytics information

The Extension's core processing is performed within the user's browser.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or provide user data to advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.

The Extension does not transmit pasted text to a developer-controlled server.

When a user chooses to create and attach a file to a Google Chat conversation, that file is handled by Google Chat as part of the user's requested action. Google Chat is a separate service operated by Google and is subject to Google's own terms and privacy practices.

The Extension does not independently send users' pasted content to third-party services for advertising, analytics, profiling, or other unrelated purposes.

6. Data Retention

The developer does not maintain a server-side copy of text processed by the Extension.

Pasted text used during the conversion process is processed locally by the Extension and is not intentionally retained by the developer.

The user's configured paste threshold may remain in Chrome Storage until the user changes or removes the setting or uninstalls the Extension.

7. Permissions Used by the Extension

Google Chat Access

The Extension requires access to Google Chat because its primary functionality operates on Google Chat pages.

This access is used to:

• Detect large text pasted into Google Chat.
• Interact with the relevant Google Chat message input.
• Provide the option to convert large pasted content into a file.
• Support the file attachment workflow.

The Extension does not request access to unrelated websites.

Chrome Storage

The Extension uses Chrome Storage to save user preferences, such as the configured paste threshold.

The Extension does not require a developer-operated cloud service to analyze pasted text or determine whether pasted content exceeds the configured threshold.

The Extension does not use third-party advertising networks, analytics platforms, data brokers, or external APIs to process users' pasted content.

Google Chat is a separate service operated by Google. Information that a user voluntarily sends through Google Chat is subject to Google's applicable terms and privacy practices.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to minimize the amount of user information processed by the Extension.

The Extension does not operate a backend service for storing users' pasted content.

The Extension's functionality is implemented within the Chrome extension package and operates using the permissions disclosed in the Chrome Web Store listing.

11. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not specifically directed toward children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.
